A beautiful example of the Rolex Datejust reference 1601, dating from 1971, with a serial number in the 262XXXX. The 36 mm stainless steel case retains thick, well-defined proportions despite having been polished in the past, and presents in excellent overall condition. The original textured silver dial has developed a subtle creamy patina over time and remains very well preserved, apart from minor wear along the edge at 6 o’clock. All tritium hour plots are present, complemented by matching hands with consistent ageing. The 18k white gold fluted bezel is in excellent condition. The watch is fitted with a folded-link Jubilee bracelet, reference 6251H, with reference 55 end links, showing remarkably little stretch for its age. The watch is accompanied by its original official Rolex Japan service invoice dating from 1993. The movement has recently been checked by our watchmaker, showing an amplitude of 280° and a daily rate of approximately +8 seconds. A very attractive vintage Datejust, combining a beautifully aged dial, strong case proportions, a well-preserved period bracelet and documented service history.
