Rolex
Daytona 6265 YG Black Dial Box/Papers 1987

REF: 6265/8

CHF 175'000 .-

The present Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 6265 in 18K yellow gold, dating to 1987 (serial 6127652), is a truly outstanding and exceptionally well-preserved example of one of the most desirable manual-wind Daytonas. Offered with its original box and punched papers, this watch represents a rare opportunity to acquire a late-production yellow-gold Daytona in remarkable condition. The case is superb, appearing to have never been polished, or at most only extremely lightly. It remains impressively thick, sharp, and symmetrical, with strong, crisp lines throughout. The presence of light oxidation in certain areas further supports the originality and honest preservation of the case—an attribute highly appreciated by seasoned collectors. The serial and reference numbers between the lugs are crisp and well defined, confirming the excellent integrity of the watch. The original matte black dial is in perfect condition, with all luminous plots intact and beautifully preserved. The tritium hands match the dial perfectly, creating a harmonious and fully coherent appearance. The original domed crystal remains in place, and the bezel is equally superb, fully consistent with the exceptional overall state of the watch. The watch is fitted with its original 18K yellow-gold Oyster bracelet reference 7205 with 71 endlinks, preserved in outstanding condition with extremely little stretch. The clasp bears the code K9, correct for the period. Although the serial number corresponds to production around 1980, it was not uncommon for precious-metal Daytonas of this era to be sold several years later, as confirmed by the original papers showing retail sale in Telford, United Kingdom in 1987. Inside, the celebrated manual-winding calibre 727—bearing a COSC-certified movement number—is preserved in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition and is running perfectly at the time of cataloguing. The caseback is stamped “6263,” a well-documented and entirely correct occurrence for late 6265 references. Accompanied by its original box and punched warranty papers, this yellow-gold Daytona 6265 stands as an exceptional collector’s example, combining outstanding originality, remarkable preservation, and strong provenance. A watch of this quality and completeness represents one of the finest opportunities available on the market today for a vintage gold manual-wind Daytona.
