A superb and highly collectible Tudor Oysterdate Chronograph reference 7031/0, better known among collectors as the “Home Plate” Monte Carlo, dating to 1971 and bearing serial number 756XXX. The watch is preserved in fantastic overall condition. The case remains exceptionally sharp and well defined, having reportedly been polished only once by Rolex Toronto. The reference and serial numbers between the lugs are crisp and clearly visible, while the caseback is correctly stamped 1.71. The original tritium “Home Plate” dial is flawless and remarkably well preserved, with beautifully matching hands and excellent overall originality. The original black bezel is likewise in excellent condition, showing only light wear consistent with its age. The watch is fitted with its original folded Oyster bracelet reference 7836 with 280 endlinks, showing only very light stretch. The clasp is correctly stamped 3.71, further reinforcing the consistency of the watch throughout. An especially appealing aspect of this example is its provenance. The watch comes from the family of the original owner, whose son travelled from Canada to Geneva specifically to sell the watch. Following his father's passing, the watch was serviced by Rolex Canada in 2006, during which the crown, pushers, and crystal were replaced. The original dial, bezel, case, and bracelet were retained, preserving the watch's authenticity and collector appeal. Presented in outstanding condition with a beautiful family history, this is a particularly attractive example of one of Tudor's most iconic vintage chronographs. Combining a flawless Home Plate dial, sharp case, correct bracelet, documented family provenance, and long-term ownership, it represents a rare opportunity to acquire a truly exceptional Monte Carlo.
