The present Patek Philippe Nautilus “Jumbo” reference 3700/1, dating to 1979, is an excellent example of Gérald Genta’s legendary luxury sports watch and one of the most influential wristwatches ever created. The stainless-steel case is preserved in excellent overall condition, having been polished in the past and now showing only very light wear consistent with careful use. The iconic porthole-shaped case retains its elegant proportions and unmistakable Nautilus silhouette. The watch is fitted with its original blue tritium dial, preserved in excellent condition and showing only light wear commensurate with age. The rich blue surface retains its characteristic charm and depth, while the tritium hour markers remain attractive. The hands appear to have been relumed at some point during the watch's lifetime. The original integrated stainless-steel bracelet is particularly noteworthy, showing virtually no stretch, an increasingly rare and highly desirable characteristic for a Nautilus 3700 of this vintage. The watch is accompanied by an Extract from the Archives, confirming its production in 1979. While no service history accompanies the piece, it is in perfect working condition at the time of cataloguing. Combining an attractive original blue dial, an exceptionally tight bracelet, and documented manufacture provenance, this Nautilus 3700/1 represents a compelling opportunity to acquire one of the most iconic and historically significant luxury sports watches ever produced.
