A highly attractive and increasingly collectible Rolex Oyster Precision reference 6282, dating to circa 1953 and bearing case serial number 871'XXX. Featuring one of the most sought-after configurations of the period, it is fitted with an original honeycomb Explorer 3-6-9 radium dial. Housed in a 34 mm stainless steel Oyster case, the watch is powered by the manual-winding Rolex calibre 1210, bearing movement number 81XXX. The caseback is correctly stamped 6282, while the case reference number 6282and case serial number 871'XXX between the lugs remain crisp, well defined, and fully legible. The case has been polished in the past and shows honest wear consistent with age. The beautifully preserved honeycomb Explorer dial is undoubtedly the highlight of the watch. The original black radium dial with applied honeycomb texture remains in remarkable condition for its age. The luminous material has aged naturally, with a few lume plots showing partial loss of their original mass, while the original hands remain perfectly matching. As expected for an original radium dial of the period, the luminous material is still active and registers approximately 8 μSv/h on a Geiger counter, confirming its originality. The watch is fitted with a dark grey suede leather strap and an original Rolex plated steel ardillon buckle, completing its authentic vintage appearance. There is no known service history; however, the movement is running well. Combining an exceptionally desirable honeycomb Explorer dial, early manual-winding Oyster case, and strong originality throughout, this reference 6282 represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most charismatic precursors to the legendary Explorer line.
